My Pace & Strange Phobia

As of lately, I've been up in the gym working on my pace. I desperately want to run a 7:59 mile and its appeared to be quite the feat. Honestly, I'm not even sure where that goal originated from, but my stubborn spirit won't let it go now...so I've GOT to get there. :)

I'm averaging about an 8:28 mile right now, and that (for me) is AMAZEBALLS. I honestly can't even believe I'm doing THAT.

I mean, it's pretty self-explanatory on the treadmill...you amp up the speed. The problem with that is I don't appreciate feeling like a sack of potatoes my entire run. Uh-uh. No bueno. Feeling on top of the world is more my style.

What frustrates me beyond that is when I run outside, (where you think I would be more motivated) my pace TANKS. It's like a 600 pound weight decided to drag behind me and I suddenly hit +10:00 miles. It's the stupidest thing...but I have some sort of phobia with running outside. I get into this hopeless mood and all I can think in my head is, "I'll never make it back."

Mind over matter, I know. Maybe it's just a bad attitude...but there's something comforting about my treadmill, being able to watching Cake Boss, and having the ability to stop whenever I please that motivates me to move faster.

Anyway, tips appreciated on that if anyone has any! Now, for the REAL fun. Workout clothes are the bomb.com and I cannot.stop.hoarding.them. Here are a few favorites!

I'm quite pleased and hoping to continue seeing results. :) My leg muscles have been feeling AWESOME - and they are getting TIGHT! Holla!

I want one of those tanks! I keep looking at different ones, but cannot get myself to spend that much on a tank top.
You go girlie!

It is harder to run outside, phobia aside, pace changes when you have to make turns and watch uneven ground. So hang in there, as you get used to outside it will improve! I HATE the treadmill, so I think it's amazing you run so well on one! Congrats, you are doing awesome!

Even if you're not hitting the time you want yet, every time you post about working out, it's seriously motivating me. I honestly think about you almost everytime I go running - and it helps push me a little further. I think about how you have a huge reason to make excuses, and then being tired from work sounds dumb. So keep up the hard work, girl! You'll hit your goal eventually, and you'll be motivating all of us along the way! :)

I'm bored to tears even thinking about a treadmill!
Find a few routes that are in your typical/target range of distance, that don't have much for road crossing/traffic signals, and not crappy sidewalks. Do those often so you're comfortable there! As for the ability to stop whenever you'd like, you can still do that outside, just you might need to walk yourself home. Or, shoot for a longer distance working in intervals. Lots of options, and I wouldn't be too bummed out about your outdoors pace. Keep on running!

I have the same problem with it comes to running outside vs. the treadmill! I love the treadmill so much more because I can control everything and also watch my shows as a distraction! You are also so fast! Currently I am trying to get below a 9 minute mile for anything longer than 2 miles. Keep up the great work!

Hey Kenzie! Just stopping by from the linkup! I'm training for a race and definitely run way slower outside, so you're not alone! I've loved checking out your blog! Feel free to stop by: luckytwenty-eight.blogspot.com

Thanks a lot Kenz...now I have like 3 other workout tops to buy!! Hahaha! Seriously...the "All Aboard the Hot Mess Express" is like my daily slogan!!!! I NEED that shirt!!! And I know what its like to set a goal for yourself and not get there as fast as you want. But you have been doing so amazing with the running...be sure to not be so hard on yourself. YOu will get there!!! And as for running outside vs treadmill...I am the complete opposite!! Outside I kick some serious butt...inside I run like the old lady I am. Hahaha! All I can suggest is just spending more time running outside this summer and work on your speed runs. I promise you will start to notice a difference. SO HAPPY you linked up this week!! I hope you will again :-) xoxo
