Savoring & Celebrating Every Minute

You know those weekends that leave you completely exhausted? This one has done just that to me and I'm not even mad. It's the best kind of exhausted ever! I literally spent every waking second doing one of three things:

1.) Eating
2.) Sleeping

AND the entire time, I was with my family and NOT working, so I'm counting it as the biggest win I've ever had up to this point in my life. (Napoleon Dynamite voice) YESSSSSSSS.

I slept a total of 6, crappy, restless hours on Thursday night because I was in a ridiculous amount of pain. When I finally gave up on resting and crawled out of bed, I showered and went to get myself some hair therapy. Apparently, I'm make irrational decisions when I'm sleep deprived and I walked out of the salon looking like sooooo...

Except, I actually really love it. I haven't had my hair dark in a good 7 months, though, so when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I have a minor freak out... "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE GIRL WHO JUST NEEDED HER ROOTS DONE?!"

After my spontaneous hair salon visit, my familia and I headed out camping for the weekend. My Daddy-o and Momma took my sister and I out fishing for most of Saturday... It was a seriously good time! I haven't been fishing in forever and forgot how much I love it!

I randomly checked my Timehop app while we were out... Which was kind of a large mistake. It was officially the one year of my Grandpa Richard's passing and it hurt my heart to see that, but at the same time, it made me so happy. My Grandpa absolutely adored fishing and the fact that we were out doing just that was too perfect. I made sure to take a few minutes just to let that soak in, though. I miss him so much!

While we were out on the lake, a single bird landed in the water just feet from us and swam around for hours... It was the strangest thing, but it's definitely safe to say that it was no coincidence. Grandpa was so with us out on that lake and it was a great reminder that he's still doing what he loved most... :) Such a happy, comforting thought! So good for my heart! Thanks, God. :)

By Sunday morning, we were all back home. MAN that shower felt ah-mazing. For real... I've never been so thankful for water pressure. I wore one of my favorite Kiki La'rue numbers and my Old Navy clearance skinnies for lunch and an afternoon at my Grandma's. The joy of the Lord is so my strength, and I think that picture just SCREAMS that. :)

Grandma made my Grandpa's favorite blueberry coffee cake and it was so freaking good. I don't think she's made it since he passed, so it was really special... And did I mention really freaking good? Told you all I did was eat this weekend.

As if I wasn't enough of an emotional wreck already... My friend Erica left this sweet comment to me after I commented that I was going to NEED a new arrival Kiki La'rue posted. I was seriously crying about it and I'll be paying it forward a billion times this week! It never ceases to amaze me how many incredible people I've met through blogging/social media that I never would have met any.other.way. and how much they bless me on the daily...

I'm crazy grateful I had this weekend off to be with my family in honor of a sweet man who still takes up a huge place in my heart. We miss and love you mucho, Grandpa!

I'm so exhausted from constantly being on-the-go this weekend, but like I said, it's in the best way... Life is too short. Time flies. Savoring every minute is insanely important. Celebrating people is necessary. For once, I feel like I actually had a full weekend of doing just that... :)

Sounds like a great weekend! I love your hair! My mom and aunt always told me that if I saw a bald eagle, it was my grandpa watching over me, so the bird story made me smile :) Have a great Monday!

1st I love your hair color
2nd this post had me in tears, I totally know the feeling of a grandpa/grandaughter relationship all to well, and the effect they continue to have on us after they are gone is remarkable.
As for the bird on the lake, yep, I got chills, and I LOOOOOOOVE that story.
